Niobium adding value to PHS for the automotive industry
Bruning Tecnometal, SSAB and CBMM, global leader of production and commercialization of Niobium products, joined forces in a project aiming the development of a 1500 MPa Press Hardening Steels (PHS) that would allow designers to develop stamped parts with greater thickness primarily for heavy-duty applications, but also suitable for other type of vehicles. The use of Niobium was key to achieving the refining of microstructural grains and a more homogeneous martensite structure after the hot stamping process.
