Niobium microalloying concept: helping the dematerialization of construction on the route of carbon neutrality
The most relevant greenhouse gas to the world steel industry is carbon dioxide CO2. Steel industry is a CO2 and energy-intensive activity representing 7% to 9% of direct global emissions.
In 2021 the global CO2 emission was 36.3 Gt(1).
Among heavy industries, the iron and steel sector ranks first, accounting directly for 2.6 Gt of CO2 emission per year. Cement sector corresponds to 2.3 Gt of CO2 emission per year(2).
