This paper emphasizes the current application of Nb microalloying technology and development of high strength steel plate for building structure using Nb in Wuyang Iron and Steel Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as Wugang). Wuyang proves that the applications of wide and heavy steel plate becomes more extensive with even high adaptability by organic combination of microalloying technologies represented by Nb containing steel and TMCP rolling process. About 15 percent of ferroniobium (FeNb) ends up in stainless steel production, which is an important growth sector, but the vast majority is currently consumed in the production of what we call high strength low alloy (HSLA) steels, often also referred to as microalloyed steels.
