Automotive Applications
High Power Density
Efficiency, compactness and lightness are key for EV manufacturers;
Nanocrystalline cores provide the highest power density and reduce size and weight of the cars.
Multiple approaches to EMI
Suppress noise right at the source close to engine through specific filter, e.g. nanocrystalline CMC;
Shield target only, using protective material. Nanocrystalline also has potential here.
Electrification from 12V → 48V
Higher voltage drastically changes EMC requirements and will put pressure on manufacturers;
On-board EMI will become a top priority, positioning nanocrystalline as the best solution.
Faster charging 400 → 800V
Higher voltages of ultra fast charging will also strengthen safety requirements;
Nanocrystalline-based protective and safety devices will also play a key role.
Contrary to Ferrite cores, Nanocrystalline cores secure safe and long-life operation due to their capability to reliably work even at a temperature from -40°C up to 180° C.
